Drastically limit deployment in low-resource settings.
A global diagnostic divide persists, creating both a critical patient need and a high-impact opportunity for purpose-built innovation.
OUR SOLUTION
A Sample-to-Answer Platform Designed for Low-Resource Settings
The QuantR platform internalizes the complexity of traditional molecular diagnostics. With our automated sample testing workflow, the system does the hard work, requiring minimal hands-on time and no specialized lab training:
STEP 1
Collect the sample (Finger prick/Throat swab/Vaginal or Cervical swab as per indication)
STEP 2
Load the sample into the reagent-loaded QuantR cartridge.
STEP 3
Insert the cartridge into the compact QuantR reader
STEP 2
Load the sample into the reagent-loaded QuantR cartridge.
STEP 4
Read syndromic test results on the screen in 20 minutes
Indication Panels in Development
1
HPV/CIN2+ panel
hrHPV strain identification Biomarkers for CIN2+ grade pre-cancerous lesion
2
TB differential panel

CLINICAL IMPACT
Faster Point-of-Care Decisions, Simplified Logistics, and Better Patient Outcomes
The QuantR platform internalizes the complexity of traditional molecular diagnostics. With our automated sample testing workflow, the system does the hard work, requiring minimal hands-on time and no specialized lab training:
Decentralised Access:
QuantR is designed to move high-quality molecular diagnostics out of centralized laboratories to the Point-of-Care setting.
Affordability:
QuantR has the potential to reduce the cost of a 40-plex syndromic test by 90%
Equitable Deployment:
QuantR is engineered for real-world settings with limited infrastructure, challenging logistics, variable operator skill, and price sensitivity.
Increased Clinical Throughput:
QuantR aims to answer in 20 minutes the vital clinical question: "What disease does the patient have?" by testing simultaneously for the presence of multiple pathogens compatible with the symptoms simultaneously.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
UniqRT™: Key Is To Start In The Chemistry
Our proprietary UniqRT™ biochemistry allows QuantR to implement the strengths of RT-qPCR at scale in constrained, real-world conditions.
Massive Multiplexing Capability
A barcoded-primer strategy and microarray-based readout architecture allow strong multiplexing, thus delivering answers across a broad pathogen panel from a single sample run.
Gold Standard Sensitivity
The chemistry is designed to maintain a sensitivity comparable to conventional RT-qPCR in laboratory settings
Ease of a Home-Test
By removing the need for nucleic acid extraction prior to the test, UniqRT™ provides RT-qPCR with the convenience of a home test.
Exceptional Accuracy
UniqRT™ eliminates false-positive signals, leading to improved accuracy by distinguishing true-positive cDNA signals from false-positive gDNA signals.
IP Status
Swiss/EU patent filed by the University of Basel for "Sample preparation free barcoded RT-qPCR" technology

Dr. rer. Nat. Nitish Mittal (Co-Founder & CSO)
A senior scientist at the University of Basel’s Zavolan Lab, Dr. Nitish Mittal is the primary inventor and one of the key scientific drivers behind the patent-pending UniqRT technology.
With over a decade of research in RNA biology, he has pioneered multiple methods for high-throughput RNA quantification and has co-raised over CHF 1.5 million in non-dilutive funding to advance this work.
Within 80SBio, he oversees the biochemistry and molecular biology that ensure the QuantR platform’s exceptional accuracy and robustness.
Dr. Engg. Lutz Weber (Co-Founder & CTO)
A pioneer in micro-manufacturing, Dr. Lutz Weber has more than 30 years of experience in diagnostic consumables and device engineering.
He previously held executive roles at Fraunhofer IMM and was the co-founding CEO of thinXXS Microtechnology GmbH, which he scaled to $30 million in annual revenue before a successful exit to IDEX Corporation.
At 80SBio, he leads engineering with a strong focus on DfM, scalability, and cost efficiency. His experience gives 80SBio a rare, strong practical footing in turning advanced diagnostics into robust, manufacturable products.
Dr. rer. Nat. Arka Banerjee (Co-Founder & CEO)
Operating at the intersection of molecular biology, product development, and venture building, Dr. Arka Banerjee brings a combination of scientific, executional, and strategic expertise.
He leads business and operations development at 80SBio and has been central to shaping the company’s go-to-market approach. His work has already enabled partnership and co-marketing discussions in India and Mexico.
Within the technical program, Arka leads system implementation and testing and was instrumental in assembling the expert network that brought the manufacturable cartridge and device to life. He combines research depth with practical startup training in market discovery, medical-device acceleration, and commercialization.
Prof. Dr. med. Mihaela Zavolan (Co-Founder & Chairman)
Prof. Dr. Mihaela Zavolan is Professor of RNA Biology at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, and one of the scientific architects behind 80SBio.
She brings decades of experience in experimental and computational RNA detection and quantification, along with early patents in the miRNA field and advisory experience in diagnostics.
